The Gabe’s team installed 2,473 feet of 24” steel, which needed to be placed under the Wabash River and nearby railroad tracks. They utilized their DD625 and deployed their DD330 for catch-rig support.
This site presented serious obstacles to Gabe’s crew, who worked around the clock on this 24/7 operation. First, they needed to navigate a 155-foot change in elevation between entry and exit points. Since there was very little room at the exit, their team had to string all pipe from the entry side, necessitating a rig move for pullback. Additionally, working underneath the railroad restricted the ream diameter to a 30” ream when passing under the tracks. Gabe’s met that multi-diameter need by running their DD330 for catch-rig support, which cut down on tool trip times. Due to long drive around distance and oscillating mud return locations; Gabe’s team installed a 4” HDPE mud return line inside of an abandoned 16” pipe placed along the rive bottom.
